We just got married two months ago without wedding ceremony, my wife lives in China and I live in Canada as a Canadian citizen.

check list says if not living together
proof of contact: letters, printed text messages, and other documented proof of contact between applicant and sponsor
proof of sponsors visits, airline ticket coupons or used boarding passes, ect
photos of your wedding, engagement and/or outings. a maximum of 20 photographs to support relationships

I have four questions:

1.I only kept flight itineraries/receipts. Do they count as proof of visits?
2.do traveling/trip photos count as photo of outings?
3.all proof and photos were taken place BEFORE OUR MARRIAGE. Do they count as evidence to support our marriage?
4. we did not have any wedding ceremony, because we want our wedding ceremony/honey moon to take place in Canada. Would that be a concern for their investigation?

Thank you so much for your answers!

1) Where's your passport stamps?
2) Yes
3) No
4) Yes its a concern, unless you can provide an extremely good reason for doing so. Why do the wedding in Canada? You should be having a traditional wedding in her country.

Thank you for helping me out!

3) No
Sorry I am confused. I thought we can provide photos since we met each other for the first time? We are being apart again after we get married. We don't have any chance to take photos at the current stage.

I try my best to explain my case clearly,

First of all, we choose Canada because Canada is beautiful, and it would surely give us a good wedding memory.

Second, my wife has an elder sister who never had wedding ceremony. Her elder sister did obtained the marriage certificate without wedding ceremony but she divorced couple months later, now single) My point is, in Chinese culture, people believe that the proper sequence for wedding ceremony among siblings should be the elder before the younger. If a younger bride or groom have wedding ceremony before an unmarried elder brother or sister, it is considered disrespecting the elder. However, her parents allowed us to get the marriage certificate, but not wedding ceremony.

so now we are stuck.

hope you can give us some advice.

Your pre-marriage photos are fine to support that you are in a relationship, but it could likely be a concern to a visa officer if you don’t have any photos from your wedding day or any photos together since that day. Submit what you’ve got but are you going to be able to see each other again soon? Take more photos and see if you can submit them at a later date or at least have them ready in case they ask or you get called for an interview.

In regards to the wedding ceremony, I would include a written statement in the application describing what you just said about why you have not had a wedding ceremony yet.

Hopefully you have lots of proof of contact.

I live in Canada, she lives in China. We got married on Feb 28th 2018 but we were apart on Mar 10 2018, we only took some selfie photos

I am not sure if this is enough for proof of contact since I am applying outland application

flight itineraries since we met each other: 3 times. (I visited her since she doesn't have visa to Canada)
traveling itineraries (pre-marriage)
chat logs/history including video call logs on an mobile app called wechat
flowers and gift receipts
engagement ring receipt
my spouse has life insurance with me as her beneficiary
4 letters from from family and friend to recognize our relationship
photos of our trips together (premarriage)
photo of her visiting my family (pre-marriage)
photo of my parents and me visiting her family (pre-marriage)
letters she sent to me (pre-marriage)

I also did not have any wedding photos. What we did was take lots of pictures during the legal cermony (signing the papers) and a family picture at dinner.

Thank you for all the replies!

Did they issue you the PR? I worry so much :(
I had more complicated issues in my application so i dont think they really looked for wedding photos? We included the photos of us getting married and going to dinner afterwards. Close enough

I think they do care about wedding photos, that's why I submitted my engagement and wedding photos that I invited more than 1,000 guests to my wedding ceremony.

I agree they do care. As long as you have some sort of proof. Every situation is different. We had a big engagement and decided our marriage cermony would be smaller and explained our reasonings in the application. I guess everyone's situation is different. Good luck to you!!
