Family Sponsorship-Costa Rican Spouse

A lawyer friend of mine claimed that there was no real advantage to submitting letters from Pediatricians, Doctors and school authorities to show that my daughters' mental health is being prejudiced by the absence of their father. Do these letters not show that the childrens' well being is at stake? My eldest is trying to complete grade 12 in Ontario:however, her concerns for her father are taking their toll. Please advise ASAP

Why do you need these letters? Is your sponsorship of husband being refused?

Otherwise the sponsorship will run its course and he will come over when it's done. A 12th grader is almost out of the nest already, she should be able to cope without daddy for a few months. Why is she so worried about him?

Worried Mom, I understand you completely and Leon a child in grade 12 is only about 17 years old and it is completely understandable that she is worrying a lot about her Dad+raging hormones, peer pressure to name a few!
Could letters such as what you mentioned be given with the sponsorship application?

I wouldn't call a 17 yo. a child. They are a teenager, almost an adult. Growing up is a gradual process and you can not baby your kids until age 18, then expect them to miraculously grow up over night.

That said, I don't think a letter like that will hurt his application. It might not speed it up either but it's worth a try.

This is not a parenting Forum and I don't want to make any enemies here because I need all the help I can get + worried Mom and everyone else for that matter but I would have to argue that a 17 year old girl is exactly at an age where she needs the guidance and support of her father even more so than a young child. Immigration Canada claims they want to keep families together and help sponsorship applicants with as of a speedy process as possible so some letters from her doctor saying she suffering from worry, anxiety etc. because she misses her Dad is not babying it is common sense.
