Supporting documents - proof of sponsor's visits

Hello all

Thanks for reading.

In the document checklist, if you haven't been living together it says:

'Proof of your sponsor's visits, such as airline ticket coupons or used boarding passes, photocopies of pages of passport for your sponsor showing entry-exit stamps supporting visits, etc.'

The way the above is worded implies the sponsor (her) visits to me. However a lot of times we met up in different places around the world, Bali, Hawaii, India etc. There were 2 trips where she visited me in the UK, but most were at a different location.

If I show proof of those trips (which I have), I'll have to include both my and my wife's airline tickets etc and not just the sponsor's, as otherwise it could just be her going on holiday without me, but the wording specifically just mentions the sponsor. But if I only do the UK visits it will look like we haven't seen each other.

Grateful for your thoughts, I was just confused why they had only asked to see her visits to my country?

Ian

Just show any proof you have, explain on a separate sheet of paper in detail what you said here as well.

I think the intention of the wording "proof of sponsor's visits" simply means proof of visits between the sponsor and the applicant, which can take place in any country, not just your own. Many couples visit each other and travel together to other countries to meet up for various reasons and as you indicated above, you have proof for both you and your wife. So just include as much detail as you can along with what barch88 suggested, a covering/explanatory letter and you will be good to go.

Great, thanks both. I thought as much, just wanted to see others' opinions.

You are most welcome. It can be very confusing so you are not alone :). Best wishes for you and your wife to have a speedy process.

Hi,

I did the same thing with my partner. I visited him, he visited me and we met in different places for vacation also. We split it up into 3 categories. Sponsor visiting applicant (give a description and include boarding passes/itineraries and the copies of passport entry/exit stamps) and then applicant visiting sponsor, with the same documentation and finally, sponsor and applicant trips together with the documentation. We had about 20 - 30 pages as we have been doing this over a span of 4 years.

It was a lot of work to copy everything, but better safe than sorry.

Good luck!

If I show proof of those trips (which I have), I'll have to include both my and my wife's airline tickets etc and not just the sponsor's, as otherwise it could just be her going on holiday without me, but the wording specifically just mentions the sponsor. Agree with all of the above. If anything, this makes your proof of relationship stronger. Just make sure to include copies of travel documents for both parties (with the dates of travel co-inciding) and photos and other documents from the trips. Good luck.
