Hi,

I am from India. My brother has been accepted for Masters Program in a reputed university in Canada. Now, we are preparing documents needed to apply for the study visa.

We are planning to self-sponsor his education.Regarding same, I need information on the Proof of Financial Support.

1. Can somebody provide me an exhaustive list of Acceptable/Not-Acceptable documents to show funds?
2. Can proof of funds be jointly produced by Parents and Sibling?
3. Is House to show as a property (without loan) acceptable? If yes, what document is required to produce in this case?

Let me know for any question on my concerns

Best Regards,
Rinki

Proof of financial support
You must prove that you can support yourself and the family members who accompany you while you are in Canada. You can prove that you have sufficient funds to support yourself in Canada by showing some of the following:

proof of a Canadian bank account in your name if money has been transferred to Canada;
proof of a student/education loan from a financial institution;
your bank statements for the past four months;
a bank draft in convertible currency;
proof of payment of tuition and accommodation fees;
a letter from the person or institution providing you with money; and
proof of funding paid from within Canada if you have a scholarship or are in a Canadian-funded educational program.

P.S. House value can only be considered for second year, for first year you need to show first year tuition plus 10000 CAD

they ask for bank statements for the past four months.

pay fee for the complete year and that would at-least complete the first year requirement.
Get sponsorship from the close relative or you can show money from your father's PF account for the second year (Tuition + living + flight)

Hi Keith/All,

Background: My brother has received admission offer from Dalhousie University for Masters of Electronic Commerce, a 2 year full time program. This program has co-op/internship as a component. Now, he is applying for study visa.

While filling the study visa application: He was asked "Is work an essential component of your studies?" - He will say 'Yes' and will produce evidence letter of work experience requirement in study from Dalhousie University. Will this document help him to also get the Work Permit along with Study permit?

OR he needs to apply for a work permit separately for internship/co-op? I went through the CIC website and found this: http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/study/work-coop.asp

Can you/anyone please guide here

Best Regards,
Rinki
