Hi All,
I am looking into applying to sponsor my wife, and I noticed on the document checklist that the front and back copies of the PR card is required as one of the supporting documents for sponsor.
It also says underneath that if the PR card has expired, they accept photocopies of the expired card.
My question is, what if the the sponsor does not have a PR card in possession at all?
For example in my case where I am still waiting for my first card, or for another example for someone else who just lost his/her card.
Is it possible to supply a copy of the original landing document or signed COPR instead?
I am assuming they just want confirmation of the applicant's status in Canada, and I believe for that matter, a valid PR card, an expired PR card, and the COPR can all serve the same purpose.
Planning to call IRCC about this as I did not find it being asked elsewhere, but at the same time just wondering if anyone can share some insight or experience about this.
Any help or advice is appreciated.
