Supervisor Required For MEng Admissions REGINA UNIVERSITY

After Facing Rejection from Regina University for the Program M Eng Software Systems Engineering , I Emailed them for the Reason and here it is...

Hello,

A recommendation of not accept has been approved by the Faculty of Graduate Studies and Research. Admission to our faculty is highly competitive, and a large number of excellent applicants makes it impossible to offer admission to all who have applied who may meet the requirements. Notwithstanding the Admission requirements referred to on our website, the University of Regina may, at its discretion, refuse admission to any applicant. Applicants must recognize that resources may not be available to allow for admission of all qualified applicants. An admission decision is not subject to appeal through the Student Appeals process.

Your application was rejected for the following reason:

-the department was unable to find a supervisor willing or able to accept you at this time


Official notification of the aforementioned, is forthcoming and will be mailed to the address provided at time of application.

My sympathies are with you dear.

I assume you didnt contact professors for supervision. Its a general perception that if someone is applying for MEng program, he/she doesnt require a supervisor, which to a certain extent is wrong. Given the stiff competition for admission, even students applying to MEng program must also contact professors for supervision. Although there have been cases in which people have got admission without contacting professors, it is better to find a supervisor to cement your chances of getting admission. Ask any senior or current student, they will also advise the same. AH I was very fortunate to get admission without finding a supervisor, but I have always advised fellow colleagues to find one.

Yeah, Feeling a lil bit disappointed but now feeling better after the reason is told. :-X Will Apply again if got any supervisor .

i mean my profile aint bad !
the only thing of concern wud be a Bachelors in Mechanical but then again I have 2.5 yrs of Oil and Gas Industry experience in the Gulf to cover that up and show that I have a background to take up the studies in PSE ... !

I wrote an email to Jennifer asking abt the necessity of finding a supervisor for Meng and her reply was, Yes it is a requirement to secure a supervisot for ur course !!!!!

Well i hv been trying to contact the prof. But no luck wid phone calls even !!!!
