Hello Team,

I sent an email to my previous organization to issue me a letter of reference. Below is the answer I received from them:

"Hi Rohit,

It will not be feasible for organization to issue a letter of reference to an ex-employee."

Then, I contacted my supervisor over a phone and He is ready to give my roles and responsibilities but on email.

So, please suggest me , What should be my next step ?

Is it very important to get this letter by supervisor on Affidavit or print of this email will be applicable.

Hope to hear from you guys soon.

Best Regards,
Rohit

Ask him to write the letter on company letter head (preferably ) or A4 paper. Put his sign and contact details (His b'card ) and his id card and request him to scan it to u
You dont need any affidavit for this.

Hello Dear JKal,

Thank you for sharing an update.

But one more quick query,

Do I need to forward refusal mail of HR to supervisor first and then have to take print out all of this stuff to keep it as record.

If he writes on A4 paper, Format of letter will be starting from:

"To whom it May concern"

or any specific words to write this letter on A4 paper.

Best regards,
Rohit

Did you tell your manager/ supervisor that you are applying for Permanent Residency in Canada and you need the reference letter for that?

If you don't end up getting letter (in a letter format), get all the information in the email and print all the conversation records and send them to CIC. That will show that you have did everything you could to obtain the document. But ensure that you're not just looking for roles and responsibilities, but there is also other information that will go in that letter, such as number of hours, dates of initiation and ending of employment, etc.

For more information on Reference Letter, review item# 11 of this pdf: http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/pdf/kits/forms/imm5750e.pdf

Tip: Try to prepare the letter by yourself, and send it to the supervisor along with the above pdf and request them to review and signature. That will not cost any time or effort to your previous employer.

Hope this helps. Good luck!
