My parents in law are in US and am trying to get them visit us in Canada by Jan end.
Currently they are in USA on B1/B2. My questions
1. Is super visa has the same processing times as visitor visa? I see the same processing times link on cic
2. Is supervisa hard to obtain vs visitor visa?
3. If I assume I get single entry TRV visa for my parents in law, how long is it valid.. and how long is the multiple visa valid (6 months/1 yrs/…?)?

Please help and guide me

HI,

my comments below are just my personal thoughts and not in anyway to confuse you.
i am not really pro super visa giving the fact that the requirements specifically around the insurance is just outrageous.

off uttermost concern to me is the lack of consistency with regards to the requirement, validity and admission period/length in Canada.

I think your choice is largely dependent on their intended period of stay (which of course could affect the VO decisions).

from various comments i have seen on this forum, i think its safe to assume if they intend to stay here for 2yrs, indicate same on the application and apply as such with the hope that they will get it otherwise, if you apply for Super visa and their period of stay is just two months, they might just admit them for two months (which in my opinion defeats the whole intention of the super visa)

From my experience, my in-laws needed to be here for just two months so we went for the regular visitor visa which was approved and yet a request for medical was made by CIC. surprisingly, passport request was made (to be received with 30days) and medical (to be received with 60 days) which tells me someone made a mistake requesting for medical because i don't assume they will hold their passport for 60days just to get the medical results then issue the visa

i have heard of people requesting to stay for 4months on a regular visitor visa yet no medical required. Talk about inconsistency with the whole process.

anyways, good luck with your choice !!!!
