I had a client from Philippines who told me they had to but a two way ticket even though their parents got a super visa and will be staying two years. To me this is outright stupid my client indicated that the return ticket can only be purchased within a 12 month period they will be staying 24 month so it can never be used. I don't know the refund policy of the airlines but I advised my client to make sure they can get a full refund for the return airfare or be able to change the departure date and extend it for another year.
This is where the requirements of Citizenship and Immigration Canada detach from reality of the actual marketplace. Since it is impossible to buy a return ticket to be used in two years.
