Hello all ,
My friend applied for super visa for his parents but they have received it just for 2 years and their passports are expiring in 2026. His parents came before also as visitor when his sister invited them for visit and it happened like 7-8 years ago. He is just wondering why they haven't received visa for 10 years (or till 2026) as usually people get . He provided every thing as required like job letter, tax returns and savings also. If anyone could help or experienced this before? Will appreciate your time . Thanks.

Visa validity depends on the assessment made by the visa officer. We have seen super visa validity as short as 6 months (not a TRV). Visas are NOT issued for 10 years.

How long did they stay on their previous visit?

They stayed for like 1 year and their visa was also valid for 1 year.

That's reasonable on a TRV entry.

Something to consider:
1. They were previously issued short validity TRVs of just one year. Were their passports expiring soon then?

2. Now, short validity super visas of just 2 years.

3. It seems like IRCC has been granting almost minimum validity visas for some reason.

4. Probably a good idea to request for two sets of GCMS notes for their TRV and super visa applications. And, address the point of concern to get longer validity visas the next time

yeah, you are right. His lawyer has already drafted letter to send to CIC for investigating the same. Yeah, will ask him to order gcms notes if possible. He is also curious to know the reason . Thanks btw . Have a happy long weekend. :)
