Hi Canadavisa family. I'm in the process of applying to extend my parents stay. They arrived in Canada in 2019 August. I had a few questions about the letter of explanation. Basically the primary reason to extend the stay is that I want to spend more time with my parents. Also we are worried about catching COVID on the flight back home. Would those reasons be sufficient or should I add more?

My 2nd question is do I need to talk about my income/letter of employment in the letter and mention like I did in the original application my commitment to supporting them etc?

Please guys this is something I am very worried about and anyone that has done an extension before your help would be greatly appreciated. I asked a lawyer how much they would charge to help me with this and they are quoting $4000!!! :(

Absolutely no need to pay 4K. That is absurd. Reasons are fine. It is always up to IRCC whether they’ll be approved after the 2 year mark. Showing that you continue to meet LICO and have the funds to support them should be included. Proof of extension of their supervisa insurance should also be included.

Thank you. I'm having trouble figuring out a few questions on form 5708. The main one being "My expenses in Canada will be paid by" The dropdown options are "myself" "parents" or "other". Im thinking I should say "other" and state: "Will be paid in full by my son" since it's a supervisa. But I'm not 100% sure

Every extension application is different. As long as she can prove she can afford to stay longer and she still has strong ties showinb she plans to return home there is a pretty good chance of getting your first extension

Can you apply for extension if parent is outside Canada, or is that considered a new application for Supervisa?

You have to apply for a new visa if they are outside of Canada.

Extension is only possible if they are in Canada.

Hello, have you ended up applying for extension?

My parent's super visa is going to expire in Mar 2022. They are planning to come to Canada in Feb end.
Can I apply for a new application for super visa?

Yes they can apply but it must apply while outside Canada.

Hey @canuck78, let say if I apply for super-visa again as a new application and if our application is still in the process considering a long wait time. Can my parents come to Canada in Feb 2022 based on the old super visa stamp?

Yes they can come to Canada in February. They may have new supervisa by then.

Hi everyone,

If you don't mind sharing which insurance company did you get for the supervisas?
So far just spoke to manulife and sunlife.

Also for your parents on maintenance medication, did you just buy them from here or have it sent from where they came from? (Considering how to do this for my mom to visit for 2 yrs)

Thanks

You are only allowed to bring 3 months of medication with you. Medications sent by mail can be confiscated.
