Hello everyone
I want to apply for a super visa for my parents, and I am self-employed. My gross income, along with my spouse’s, is $70,000, which meets the LICO requirement. However, our total income on the Notice of Assessment (NOA) shows $30,000. My question is, which of these income figures is important according to IRCC? Because the total income on the NOA does not meet the LICO threshold. If anyone has experience with this, I would appreciate it if you could share it.

They will use gross income after expenses if you are self employed. Is the $70k before or after you have deducted your self employed expenses?

70,000 is before expenses
IRCC will use gross after self-employment expenses. What is your income after expenses and before tax?

One more question, now its 2025, I need to show income for 2024. Can I only provide T1 form to demonstrate my income without showing the NOA. The T1 form shows that my gross income, after deducting expenses, is $60,000 ?

No. You need to provide an NOA.

One of my friends could get a visa for his parents just with T4, without noa
That is extremely unusual. They may have gotten approval via bulk approval which in itself is a crazy. Would add that if your goal is to try to qualify for PGP you will need to raise your income minus expenses.

I definitely want to declare a higher income. That’s why I asked about this. Now that it’s 2025, we need to file taxes for the 2024 tax year. I can ask my accountant to prepare my T1 form and declare my income after expenses as $60,000, which would meet the LICO requirements. However, I can’t provide an NOA at the moment because I won’t receive it until after February .That’s why I’m asking if I can apply with just the T1 form, as long as my declared income meets the LICO threshold.

Wait until you have the 2024 NOA later this year and then apply. IRCC generally refuses the application if no NOA is provided.

That is a significant change. Unless you are earning a lot more with similar expenses I hope you can justify a 30k difference in expenses year to year if asked by CRA.

So not actually your income as you specified. You and your wife should both wait until you get your NOAs and she can be included as a co-sponsor.
Actually, I intend to increase both of our incomes by $30,000 combined so that we can meet the LICO requirements for a family of four. This means each of us would have an income increase of approximately $15,000 after expenses. This adjustment will help us qualify the LICO table for four people.
My question is: You mentioned waiting for the NOA. When I check the portal ,I can choose which documents to provide. If I decide to only submit a letter from my accountant and a T4 slip, would this still be a reason for refusal, considering that selecting documents is optional in the application process?
