Guys,

I have questions regarding for step-mother super visa. Actually, I haven't add her name in my PR application because my actually parents name was there in my passport long back. My dad did second marriage after my mother passed. Now my father is also passed away.

I declared my actual parents as deceased in family declaration forms.

How can I apply for my step-mother super visa? Anyone has idea or any experience.
I came to know that I need to do affidavit to show relationship and declared father death certificate etc..

Waiting for your reply and suggestion.

You cannot apply for a super visa for your stepmother. The only way you could have done this is if you were applying for your father and she was included as his dependent. She will need to apply for a regular visitor visa to come to Canada.

Thanks canuck_in_uk.

I have also talked with Immigration Laywer and they suggested same to apply visitor visa. Otherwise, CIC will raise a concern in my PR application that not to declare step-mother details in family information.

Do you have any idea about visitor visa duration? I would like to apply maximum duration so she can stay with me more than 1 or 2 years.

She will be allowed into Canada for a maximum of 6 months (how long she is allowed in will be up to the immigration officer at the border). She can apply to extend her visit in Canada by another six months towards the end of her visit. There is no limit on the number of extensions she can request but also no guarantee of approval. I would say it's probably unlikely she will be able to stay as long as 1-2 years.

As scylla said, there is no guarantee that her status will be extended, so she may not be allowed to stay for a year.

Hi there,
I'm in the early stages of inviting my parents under the super visa program but while I'm filling up their application, I come across lots of questions, as you can all imagine:
1. in the IMM5257 TRV application, it is required to indicate how long my parents intend to stay. I'm planning to have them next year when spring kicks off, maybe March or April until early fall or even a bit longer, but I'm just not sure how many months should I go for as I really don't want to risk by putting one year or 9 months. What would be the most common and not risky duration?
2. also, the funds available for their stay is another requirement in the app. what would be a normal amount to put for one of the parents? let's say if we go for 6 months or 9 months respectively?
3. I will serve as their representative. would I need to fill in one separate "use of representative form" for each of them or is it ok to use just one for both parents?
4. on the same form: IMM5257, under contact information, do I have to complete box 1: Current mailing address if we go for the option of email correspondence? I understand, my parents living address should be put under para 2 but what about telephone no-s? am I ok to put my Canadian telephone numbers or should I be putting my parents'?

I would be grateful for some answers and I thank you so much in advance.
