Hi there:
Question for senior members - I am Canadian citizen; I sponsored my mother to get her permanent residency visa in 1999. She was here in Canada only one year and since her departure in 2000 she has never come back. Only in last year we were able to convince her to come back and live with us. As per CIC guideline, we had to go through the travel document application process and get confirmation that she has lost her status before we could apply for another visa. We thought it would be a good idea that she come for a short visit first since sponsorship visa is a legthly process. Therefore we applied for her temp visa. She has only a sister in Iran, and while she owns her house and have some savings (documents were provided), visa office in Tehran denied her application on her family ties in Iran and in Canada. My mom is 74 years old, and sadly she has not embraced her grandchildren yet.
I have gone to CIC and I feel I have pretty good understanding on what they require.
I have questions below and hope you could provide me with some guidance:
1- How can I prove to them that she would go back at the end of her stay on super visa? One more piece of info - before she become a permanent residence in Canada, she had visited me a could of times and each time she left Canada before her visa expires
2- Would help of an immigration lawyer provide us with a better chance of success? Can you recommend a very good immigration lawyer in Toronto.
Thank you,
