Hi,
I would like to extend my mum stay in Canada, she has a multiple entry visitor visa. So, I am thinking to apply Super Visa for her as I need her to stay for babysitting my little one. Her expiry date will be Nov 25th. CIC website say I can apply 30 days before expiry date.

I booked the medical appointment for her (Oct 26). Any papers or forms I should fill up before the doctor appointment. What should I bring? Will the doctor give me any forms or docs after the physical exam? what about the x-ray or bloodwork? How did they submit the form?

I check the processing time, it is quicker to apply via paper (110 days??) My mum will go back to hometown for three week in February, 2016. What if we don't get any docs from CIC before we leave, what will happen? Can she leave or come back without the Super visa?

Thanks.

Hi,

You're confused about the terms. You mom cannot apply for a Super Visa from within Canada. She must apply for it from her home country.

What you're referring to is an extension of her authorized stay for up to 2 years (on her current visit)..... for which you must send her application to CPC-Vegreville.

Also, it is not necessary to do the medical upfront. CPC-Vegreville will give you the instructions for the medicals.

If your mom leaves in February, she may be allowed back in after 3 weeks.... based on her current multiple-entry TRV (for 6 months or less as assessed by the immigration officer).... and not on a Super Visa

Cheers

I am still confusing the term. So, what you are saying here is I can't apply the Super Visa within Canada (since my mom already in Canada).

What is "Parents and grandparents - Autorized Period of Extended Stay?? Is this same as Super Visa? What about "Visitor Extension"? So, Which category should I apply. P/S: I meet the LICO.

For the Medical Upfront - so I should not do it now? If I send the application now, how long the processing time before they send me the notice? Because we are leaving on Jan 30, 2015. It is three months away.

Hi,

Yeah, you're still confused LOL

That's right. Your mom must apply for a super visa from her home country.

With a super visa, an individual can stay for up to 2 years on initial entry (without applying for an extension).... whereas for the Authorized Period of Extended Stay, the individual is allowed to remain for 6 months, on initial entry, on a TRV (and can then apply for an extension.... which is what you're applying for now).

Yes, you must meet LICO for both situations (among other requirements).

CPC-Vegreville will give you the medical instructions if you apply to extend her stay.

If you apply to extend your mom's visitor status now, she will be on implied status until a decision is made (it could take 4-5 months). Most probably, she will leave Canada on January 30 without hearing from CIC about the approval.

She will then assessed by the immigration officer when she re-enters in February 2016 for a new stay of 6 months (or less) on her valid TRV

Cheers :)

Hi,

Yes, it's okay to be on an implied status until she hears from CIC about her extension. This could take 4-5 months depending on whether you mailed a paper application or applied online.

Thanks Bryanna. Can I make it clear again....hope it is ok.
Because she is now in Canada and I also meet the LICO. I can extend the stay by applying this "Authorized Period of Extended Stay" category for her right? According to the checklist, the extra docs are health insurance for up to 1 year, my income proof (T4 or employment letter) and my birth cert (my mum name on it).

Due to the long processing time, if we did not hear from CIC before we leave Canada, what can happen? The airport staff will question us for sure? What should I say? How can I proof that she is implied status.

Do you know how long to wait for the CIC to give instruction for the medical check-up? Should I cancel the medical appointment next week?

Thanks again.

Correct. You can apply to extend her stay.

Do have a look at:
http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/pdf/kits/forms/IMM5558E.PDF

www.cic.gc.ca/english/information/applications/guides/5551ETOC.asp

Do keep proof of payment, etc.... in case you're asked.

Cheers

Thanks Bryanna. Very helpful.

Now, I am preparing the letter. Since my mum already in Canada, do I need to write an invitation letter for her??
I am writing a "supporting" letter, is that ok?

Since this is for the extension of stay (not super visa), should I include my family unit in the letter?

Website saying:
"Details of your family unit, including names and dates of birth of your spouse and dependants (this is mandatory for the Parent and Grandparent Super Visa);

Total number of people residing in your household, including those you have previously sponsored and whose sponsorship is still in effect (this is mandatory for the Parent and Grandparent Super Visa);"

Yes, to all your questions.... even though the Invitation Letter/Letter of Support is not for a Super Visa. In this letter, include your mom to calculate the family size/LICO minimum

Hi
I would like you apply for super visa for my wife parents. I read for someone to be eligible the the sponsor ( son or daughter) has to have job. I sponsored my wife, she is been her with for 2.5 months now. She has no job right now. I was wondering if I can apply for them, I am not sure if that will work or not. I have full time job, its enough to support them very well during their stay. My father in-law has very well paid job back home, working with private company, he is general manager. Money is not the question for him. They might not stay that long here, maybe just about a month. He is coming form a country where he has to have visa to enter Canada.

Would would you advise?

Thanks

Hi,

Your in-laws can apply for TRVs instead if they intend to visit for one month.

As their host, you can send an invitation letter signed jointly with your wife (notarized, original.... if your in-laws are in Pakistan) + your NOA/T4s/Employment Letter + your bank statement + copies of your/your wife's passports and PR cards + your wife's birth certificate (showing her parents names).

Your in-laws must submit proofs of their strong ties to their home country + good financial situation, etc. If your father-in-law wishes to visit for >1 month then it would incorrectly indicate that he has weak employment ties

Cheers :)

Are you guys sure it's impossible to apply for Super Visa from within Canada?
I called CIC twice and got different replies on this from different agents.
Moreover, if I look at 5256ETOC.asp,
On the top, it's written:
Who may use this application?

Use this application if you wish to apply for a temporary resident visa from outside Canada.

But then, wen you scroll down, there is:
If you are inside Canada, you must use the Document checklist – Applicants in
Canada (IMM 5721) (PDF, 209.14 KB) to gather the documents required to submit your application to the Case Processing Centre – Ottawa (CPC-O).

Someone can shed some light on this? I'm totally confuse what application I need to submit (my mom is in Canada, a visitor from visa exempt country).
