Hi ,

i had previously posted about the visitor visa record for my mother in law. she had applied for visitor visa record in April 2024 but its still processing so apparently she left in October. Now she is back home and is renewing her passport as it was about to expire. I do have a couple of questions if seniors could put some input to this.

1) do i need to update her new passport to ircc (she had left country so she had raised a web form to let ircc know that she is leaving but no update so far)

2) can we apply for her super visa since she is back home now or do i need to wait till this visitor visa record application is processed?

thank you all

You need to inform IRCC that she has left Canada. She should really reestablish ties to her home country before applying for the supervisa to alleviate any concerns that she is trying to live in Canada.

Thank you for your reply! We did inform ircc that she had left and they have asked her if she wants to withdraw the application which I don’t think is a good idea. I think we should probably wait for their decision.

And secondly, she is the only grandparent that our kids have met and she stayed with us so they have formed a connection and they really miss her. That’s the only reason we want to apply for her super visa this early. You think it’s a negative thing?

Yes she remains a visitor and can not live in Canada just visit. If it appears as though she has minimal ties to her home country that could be problematic for any visitor visa approval. Many children miss their grandparents when they return home after a visit. That is just a normal emotion.

Thank you for your input! How long should we wait before re applying super visa??She has just renewed her passport so the previous visa on her previous passport is not valid anymore.

Hi- question for anyone who might have an answer :)

I have re-applied for my mom's supervisa on Dec1st and its been 2 weeks, there has been no movement in her application. Is this normal?
She was in Canada on super visa for 1.5years and left for India in Sept. Since her passport was expiring, I had to re-apply for visa.

Last time i.e. in 2022- this was the timeline of her application:

Application submitted through GCKey- Jan 23rd
Biometric request- Jan 24th
Biometric completed- Jan 28th
Medical request- Feb 8th
Medical done- Feb 25th
Medical passed- March 8th
Application approved- March 10th

As you can see, she got her medical request in 2 weeks, so i am a little concerned as this the first time i have applied thru the ircc portal instead of cgkey.
her biometric remains the same since it's valid for 10 years. but i am wondering on medical request and why it hasn't come in yet :(

thank you!

I don’t have the exact answer but I would say check the processing time for application. I also have to re apply for my mil since she just got her passport renewed. But the processing time for super visa now is 4-5 months so let’s see.
