Hi,

My CGPA: 8.9 and IELTS: 7, with 3+ years of software experience(bachelors in Electronics and communication 2017 passout).
I have filed my final year project as patent and it passed the first review recently.

I have applied for the following universities for summer 2021 program (MSc - CS and MEng - ECE):
1. Waterloo
2. Carleton
3. Concordia
4. Western
5. Victoria

What are my chances for getting into these? I am considering to apply for SFU and Dalhousie as well. Should I apply or these are well and good.

Please advise and help me out!!!!!! Its urgent......

Are you planning to apply for Thesis Based masters or Course Based Master? You have excellent chances for Course based Masters but based on your background I assume you may want to apply for Thesis. If so, I would suggest you to apply to mix of universities top, medium and low ranked and check which university is ready to accept you as the competition is huge and which university is ready for funding. Or you would be self funded?

I desperately want to get into asap. Course work is my preference, but applied to thesis as well.(as deadlines open for thesis at this point of time). I cant wait till Sept 2021 !. Can you suggest some universities for me, other than this.. I am not much into funding, anyway will take edu loans.

What are my chances for UW?

Major Intake is September intake, you will not get too many options for Jan Intake and most importantly by now most of the top ranked universities deadline already over.

If course based Masters is what you are aiming, then based on my experience this is what I can suggest.
1. Do not apply for Victoria as they need supervisor approval to evaluate your profile and they only have two programs MTIS and MADS where a supervisor not needed. If you are interested in these two then go ahead.
2. SFU and Dalhousie both are good.
3. Western University MEngg is of 1 year duration.
4. You can also try for HEC Montreal, one of lowest tution fees for MSc program but it is on Quebec.
5. If you have excellent marks in Maths, then only apply for Waterloo
6. Include, UCal, UofAlberta in your list, now sure if they have Jan intake.
7. Please have three average ranked universities in your list

Thanks for ur time!

1. Victoria -I have requested few supervisors for approval, waiting for it and later will apply
2. Thinking of applying to one of SFU/Dalhousie, but which has good internship/co-op/job placements? Should I consider Manitoba also in this list?
3. HEC Montreal offers french courses. I don't know french!
4. I have really good grades in Math in bachelors(all 4 math papers got 'S' highest grade)
5. I am considering UofC also, but link is not open yet for summer and Alberta doesn't invite for this intake
6. How is Guelph university good for CS/ECE? any idea?

How is Guelph and Manitoba based on ur opinion/research?
Can't speak much about university of Guelph Uni as haven't applied but I heard their research is strong.
Manitoba also needs a supervisor. With this condition success rate seems less
