Hi,

I have my visa through online based on May 5th and on 11th May I gave biometrics.
Till yesterday I didn't see any change in y application status, but all of sudden I got a mail today and checked it was the BAD NEWS saying that -- a decision has made and kindly check below for details.

Actually, I have applied the TRV for attending a conference and selected the purpose of visit as a business.

But I work for another company here in India, I have clearly mentioned all the things related to the conference and my current employment too.

My cover letter went almost 2 pages, by covering all the things related to my trip

But, today I got an update saying that my visa has been refused with 2 reasons,
• I am not satisfied that you will leave Canada at the end of your stay as a temporary resident, as stipulated in paragraph 179(b) of the IRPR, based on the purpose of your visit.
• I am not satisfied that you have a legitimate business purpose in Canada.

I have attached below supporting documents for my application:
 Visa invitation letter from the conference invitee
 Round trip flight tickets
 Hotel booking confirmation
 Day wise Itinerary plan
 Travel history documents
 NOC and Employment Certificate from my current employer
 Pay slips for the last 3 months
 Bank statement for the last 6 months
 Tax filing records for the last 2 years
 Property Documents

I have cleared mentioned my purpose of the trip and about the conference that I am taking part, I have included a day to day activities and my detailed itinerary, but still, that's a refusal

Does my lengthy cover letter had impacted? Over Documentation?

I wanted to apply again very soon, can anyone please suggest me what should be done to get my case strong. Thank you!

Is the conference you are attending directly related to the work that you do? If this type of conference is offered in your country at some point, this can be a trigger that you are trying to gain access to Canada for another reason.

Does the conference you want to attend have an online option? These are the types of things considered.

Was this related to your work that you do? If not, you should re-apply relating it to your work. This will be stronger than attending a conference for personal interest.

I have seen a number of posts here that state the reason as " conference" and have a high chance of refusal. It all depends on the type of conference that makes the difference.

Good luck.

No, the conference is not related to my work, my employer and conference don't have any relation both are different. But I work as a software engineer and during my college days, I used to contribute to Mozilla in different areas. So being a valued contributor they have invited me to attend meeting happening in Canada. Sponsorship will be covered by the conferance company itself, they have sent an invitation letter to me

Earlier also I have been invited to attend a conference at the US for the same purpose and my visa got rejected for a couple of times. does this a make sense of my application rejection.

Thank you so much for your reply.

Okay, so it is related to your profession.

So the rejection indicated "...legitimate business purpose in Canada" . Here is some information that should help from the their site:

Good luck
