Hello everyone!
Has anyone been successful or know anyone who has been successful in the past?
I’m so glad that there is this forum and I’m somewhat saddened that I didn’t join sooner. Here is my story:
I am Canadian and my husband is from Moldova. He is also a Romanian citizen. Either way – the Canadian Embassy in Bucharest oversees applications for Moldovan nationals as there is no Canadian Embassy in Moldova. My husband is currently living and working in the south of France (where we met) and I live and work in Vancouver, BC.
I got married in Moldova in September 2013 and had started the application process there (we had to run around town to gather supporting documents for my husband and get them translated and notarized). I returned to Vancouver in October. My application was received on December 16th, 2013. Our status at this point was “Application Received”. I received on email January 15th, 2014 to say that I was approved as a sponsor and that our application was now being forwarded to Bucharest. We had opted to do the full medical exam beforehand so this was already included when we sent the application to the Case Processing Centre in Ontario. On January 31st, 2014 we received another email requesting that we submit a criminal record check issued by Russia and France. We only sent in a criminal record check from Moldova because at the time he did not have a Romanian passport and he was staying there with his family shortly after we got married. We had 60 days to submit these. We sent them and our status remained the same however a detail was added that read “We have received the Medical Results”. This status remained the same until July 22nd, 2014. It changed to “In Process” and a detail was added that read “We are currently processing the application”.
On August 11th, 2014 we received an email instructing us to send my husband’s passport along with two more passport photos. We assumed that at this point an interview was not required. In this email it explained that once the Embassy receives the passport, the application will be given to a Canadian Visa officer who will ultimately make the decision. This decision process was stated to take up to 15 business days. On September 1st, 2014the status online changed to “Decision Made” and the detail added read “A decision has been made. The office will contact you concerning the decision”. It’s quite vague – at this point the decision could go both ways. On September 2nd, 2014 we received an email saying that the passport is ready for pick-up and to arranged for a courier to pick it up.
That brings me to today. We’ve arranged for the courier to pick it up and just waiting to receive it. We have had no communication since and no letter has arrived.
I ask my question again – does anyone have any success stories for Spousal Sponsorship out of the Embassy in Bucharest, Romania? Is my timeline going in the right direction?
I would love to hear about it!
