Hello all,

Can anyone share they're success stories after an interview?

My husband has an interview November 22 and I'm freaking out a little. I keep reading denial stories and need a little positive.

Any advise would be great also :)

Thank you

In all honesty, what happened to someone else is of little use to you. Every case is different but the most probable reason for the interview is to assess the real nature of your relationship. Other reasons for interviews are suspect documents, security or criminal concerns, previous immigration violations etc. Do you have any clues?

I am 10 years older than my husband. He has been denied visitor visa 2 times. Once before when we were dating and once during this process. Denied due to his ties to me. They asked him to bring my 2012 notice of assessment. That's all I can really think are red flags. We do have a language barrier also. I have been to see him 3 times in the past 1.5 years. We have been together almost 2 years. We started the process of sponsorship after we were married in June. July applicant. I am divorced with 2 kids and he has no children of his own. He has no other family or friends in Canada.

I know every persons stories are different but I just wanted to hear some positives coming from interviews since I mostly see negative.

Thank you :)

Hi can/alb.

My only advice for your husband is for him to stay calm, be himself and show self confidence.

Your husband will be fine.

Good Luck..!!

Just make sure he has a very good answer for the "killer" question, "What will you do if I refuse this application?".

What's a good answer for that? I know we would appeal but I can't live there because that would mean leaving my children behind and as a mom I'd never do that.

Hello can/alb TRV refusals may actually help your case as it shows your sincere desire to be together and also supports the fact that for you to travel there is an impact on your children. About the kids, would it be possible to say that you would be willing to move there if you had to appeal? You may also want to contact a lawyer for a consultation on this one and this could also show that you had done some preparation in this regard.

FYI, I am 5 years older than my husband, we were refused TRVs 4 times, second marriage for both of us (we both have kids from prior marriages) and we were approved in 8 months, no interview. Just make sure you husband is confident, polite, (i.e., does not get baited if the IO seems rude) and prepared. They are wanting to make sure your relationship is genuine. There are many interview sample questions posted (let me know if you need a link) and just be as prepared as you can be. Blessings and prayers for this to go well for you.

Hello Frida19, if you (not sure if you are sponsor or applicant) have not yet ordered your GCMS notes, do so now. They take 30 days and they must be ordered by the sponsor and the applicant must sign a consent form (this can all be done electronically). These notes should give some indication of why you may have been called for an interview. Do not automatically assume you will get denied, that is not the intent of the interview. Generally speaking they want some additional proof that the relationship is genuine......but they also have quotas to fill and some people with long marriages and children in common get called as well so, who really knows.

Here is a link to some sample questions: http://www.canadavisa.com/canada-immigration-discussion-board/what-kind-of-questions-do-they-ask-in-the-interview-t47091.0.html;msg345377#msg345377.

Sometimes the IO asks for documents that were sent in the original package, sometimes the interview is long, sometimes short, it all depends on many factors (based on reading other member's posts). I am sure on your thread there are some folks that have been interviewed so make sure you post this in the Mexico thread, read some old posts or Google some search terms. I will pray that you have a great interview and will pass with flying colours! Blessings.

While they do (unfairly) scrutinize more age differences where the wife is older than the husband, 10 years is not unreasonable. And being denied twice can be explained as him wanting to see you so badly (good thing).

The only real red flags I see are the language barrier and the lack of face-to-face meetings. Make sure he has a good answer for both (example: how despite the language barrier, you still find a way to communicate with each other via <explain>, and you only visited 3 times because it is expensive and you don't have enough days off from your job, etc).

Thanks for all the tips and advise. At least I'm going to see him before the interview. And it's another trip he can show more evidence of.

We don't look like were 10 years apart in age and he knows no one but me in Canada. He wants to come to Canada for me and that's it. I don't make a lot of money either and I'm not a lonely old lady that needed attention from a young guy haha. We met by chance and we've made to work. I know he will be fine in the interview but I know These IOs can be tough and tricky. As for the language barrier, I don't know what he can say about that. We use translators and help each other to learn our languages. We laugh a lot about it and it's been quite fun! And sometimes we just simply understand each other.

Another question; can he be denied based in my income? I know normally it's not the case but they asked for my notice of assessment and I already sent it with the application?
