Buffalo.
The total process:
line for 20 mins
@ counter for 2 mins...(for them to collect the application)
wait for 1.5 hrs
done...

People when you are going to visa office, please do not take your children. It is a small office, with a 250sqft waiting room. Stuffy and noisy. The wait times are usually 30 mins minimum. Leave your kid with your relative or someone in the mall or hotel or home...it is better for you and the kid.

Have all your documents ready...your counter time will be drastically reduced by this.

Note: Work Permit and Study Permit applications will not be processed the same day in Buffalo, starting June 13. TRV applications may still work. Contact Buffalo 3-4 days before you go. Say that you had already looked at the website and this information is not there, or they will send you the link to their website.

I am planning to visit Buffalo Office for same day visa on June 30. just trying my luck.
have couple of questions on the TRV application

1) photocopy of your valid ticket and/or travel itinerary
I am planning to go by car and hence don't have any ticket. what should i show as travel itinerary.
also i haven't booked any hotels yet as i'm waiting for my visa

2) information about the person(s) or institution(s), including schools you intend to visit during your stay in Canada:
I am not planning to visit any person or institution as I don't know anybody in canada. will travel on torist visa and stay in hotel.

3) Fee Payment
is credit card expected as a valid mode of payment while applying in-person or should it be a bank draft / cashier cheque

please reply.
Thanks,

You don't need anything

Put in the name of your hotel if you know it, if not, what are you traveling for? if us visa say US Consulate

3) Fee Payment
is credit card expected as a valid mode of payment while applying in-person or should it be a bank draft / cashier cheque
Bank Draft or Cashiers Check preferred, but they accept cash too (exact amount, they will not give you change) and no Cards

MCBoy,

I have a question for you.
we submitted our application for TRV on May 20 to Buffalo Office, and haven't heard anything from them.
We have a trip to india on July 31st.
Can any of our friends who have valid entry to US go to Buffalo Visa office(we don't have, as we stay in Toronto) and get the passports with visa stamped on them on our behalf?
can you let us know the procedure.

Thanks

Buffalo says 30 days for TRV processing of mail in applications. 30 days is today. With Canada post delay, this may be more. Try e-mailing the buffalo office after a couple of weeks (around 5-6 of July), they usually provide responses within 24 hours. Ask them if you can send a representative to pick up your passports.

Before sending email to buffalo, do this: http://www.canadainternational.gc.ca/buffalo/imm/contact-contactez.aspx - temporary mailing instructions to receive your passports back. Do that asap.

My 2 cents: No, you have no options but to wait. If no one is present at the office when applying for TRV, it is considered as a mail-in application. Mail in applications go through a different process flow compared to in person. As advised by the site, you should have sent it 3 months before your travel date, in your case April. The mail in applications are getting super delayed, and with the added mess from Canada Post not working, it is even worse.

You still have time though. Wait for another month and if it is still delayed, change your tickets! (99% you should get it by then)

just thought of sharing my same day visitor visa @ buffalo experience

I reached HSBC One Center @ Buffalo at 7.45 am and was 25th in the queue.
When my turn came to submit the application following questions were asked

- Which all places will you visit in Canada
- For how long are you planning to stay

I submitted all my documents along with the money order as visa fee (cash is also allowed but for that you will be called again after 20-30 mins)

After about an hour I was called again and my passport with canada visa stamped was handed over to me. I left the visa office at 10 am.

as MCBoy said it was indeed a smooth experience.

Cheers.
