Submitting Work Permit Application with PR Application

Hello,

I am sponsoring my wife to immigrate from the US to Canada. I am a Canadian citizen. She is living with me in Canada and we are working to complete the Inland application. The recommendations are to submit your PR application and work permit (OWP) application together. However, it seems that the recommendation for OWP is to submit it using the online process. What is the best option? Should I complete a paper application for the OWP and submit it as part of the PR application process? Is there a way to link a PR application with an online OWP application? I think most (if not all?) Of us who have submitted an OWP application did it on paper with our PR application. I dont know if the PR checklist has changed, now that they officially recommend work permit apps be done online, but my checklist gave the option to include an OWP application on paper.

Here it says that for the PR/OWP situation, you can only apply online if you have approval-in-principle (one of the last steps). I dont know if that has been updated since the new guidelines to apply online, though, so take it with a grain of salt.
