Submitting additional information after initial application

I am nearly ready to submit my application to sponsor my husband for permanent residency in Canada, and then realized we need to get a background check from Germany as well as from the FBI. (We live in California, and he has lived here since 2001, however he was 34 at time).

Can I submit everything other than the German background check, and then add that once I receive it?

Yes u can, just include a explanation letter stating u are in the process of getting it and will submit it when you receive it
