Hey Guys
I am getting the application ready to submit by the end of the month, lots of little stuff to do!!
Anyway I am writing to ask your opinion if we should submit before or after our baby's birth....

We are apply outland through Guatemala, and I am here in Guatemala to be with daddy and have our baby.... What do you think should we wait for her birth so we can include her in the documents or submit and add her after (she is due the end of jan right when we want to apply)

Thx for an advice in advance :)

Are you the sponsor? A child born abroad to a Canadian citizen is also a Canadian citizen. You can try the citizenship test to see if your child will be a citizen:
http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/citizenship/rules/index.asp
If the child will be a Canadian citizen at birth, you won't have to add him or her to the application (except when the forms ask about your children).
Since the child is due soon, it doesn't make much difference if you wait or not; otherwise I would just say apply as soon as possible.

you do not mention your citizenship or type of application you are applying for, I am assuming that you are Canadian and you are applying family class for you partner, (or husband, or baby daddy)

If you are Canadian, and were born in Canada, your child will have Canadian citizenship upon birth even if the child is not born in Canada and therefore does not need to be on any application....

If you have Canadian PR (not citizen) you cannot sponsor if you are residing outside of Canada.... and you would need to add the baby onto your sponsorship application so that the child can be considered for PR if the child is not born in Canada.

Yes sorry I was not clear at all,

I am Canadian by birth and therefore baby born here will be Canadian after apply for proof of citizenship, and daddy is husband and we are applying outland family class spousal sponsorship, I didn't know if we should wait for the birth or not, I don't think i need income or anything like that for baby or spouse its just a matter of mentioning her on the family forms....

If I were to submit fast and before her birth how do i go about informing immigration of our family growth? and should i wait till after I am granted sponsorship approval or as soon as she is born?

I personally think its best to submit before, but we might not even have a choice we are waiting on option C arriving at my parents place in canada and then getting it mailed here and we may not get it before the birth which would eliminate the question of before or after :) lol

Anyway just looking for opinions, before or after baby (who will be canadian)

Thx again
