hi,

I am an exchange student from Austria and I am staying the whole year in Canada (arrived August 2012). With an austrian citizenship I only needed a studypermit form my exchange.
My hostfamily asked me if I wanna go with them to Mexico in December and of course I would love to!But my study permit says : "This does not authorize re-entry" but I was three times so far in the US.
Does somebody know if I can re-entry to Canada from Mexico?

I hope somebody knows the answer would be great!!

best wishes julius21

Re: Studypermit going Mexico URGENT!!! NEED HELP

Thanks!

so now I searched for an hour and found this on the official goverment website. Do i understand it wrong? I think it means I would be allowed to go to mexico? thanks julius21

16. When I entered Canada, the immigration officer gave me a Study Permit (IMM1102B). On it is written 'Does not authorize re-entry'. What does that mean?

That means that the document alone will not allow you to re-enter Canada if you leave. You must also have a valid passport.

If you require a temporary resident visa (TRV), you must also have a visa that is valid at the time you wish to return to Canada. The permit or visitor record does not take the place of a visa.

Please note that at any time during the validity of your work or study permit, you may re-enter Canada after a trip to the United States only, even if you do not have a valid visa. If you re-enter Canada from any other destination, you must have a valid visa, if you require one, to enter Canada.

Hi Julius21,

i do not believe you require a TRV to return to Canada hence, free to join your family in mexico. the below like clarifies your question. Austria your country of citizenship belongs to the visitor visa exemption group.

Hope this helps
