Good Evening everyone,

I am a student from Egypt looking forward to study in canada in the university of british colombia. I have many questions that i hope you can help me answer.

1. As a student who just finished his bachelors and wants to apply for any university in canada, do i need a students permit or some kind of visa to live in canada? How can i obtain it?

2. What is the first step that any graduate student like me has to take to be able to travel, live and study in canada, get a visa etc

3. What are the different agencies that provide scholarships and funds to international students like me to help facilitate living in canada, as you know living in canada is not easy.

Based on your experience is there anything else i should be aware of, can you guide me and provide links of what i should do?

Any kind of help is appreciated

Thanks in advance

1. You will need a visa to study in Canada. Information on how to apply is here: http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/study/index.asp

2. Your first step is to apply and be accepted by a school in Canada. You can then apply for a student visa.

3. International students studying in Canada are generally expected to cover the cost of their education on their own and also their living expenses. (In order to receive a student visa, you have to prove that you can cover the cost of tuition and living expenses.) Also, keep in mind that as an international student, you will be paying higher tuition fees than Canadians. Scholarships for international students may be provided by certain schools. You should check with the schools you will be applying to directly to see what they may have available.

Hope this helps and good luck.

Thank you for your reply, it was very helpful. I just have another question are students with a student permit eligible to any kind of scholarship that can be provided by the country itself canada?

No - they aren't.
