Hi,

I have been in the EE pool for almost one year. My current score is 425 (already lost 5 points after my birthday).

I am considering applying to a college in Canada to complete a 1 year full time certificate program.

Would this give me the amount of points that can guarantee an ITA. I checked in the calculator tool, it looks as though I'll get to 467 which is great, but I just want some other people's perspective on this approach in case I calculated it incorrectly. This approach is expensive as even a 1 year certificate for international students is around $15,000 CAD, plus living expenses for a year and the fact that I would have to quit my job. Also, my IELTS would expire by the time I complete this study, and therefore I will have to retake the test. But I feel like I'm out of other options at this point.

Your thoughts would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!!!

This can be an option for increasing your points but a costly one as you pointed out. Did you apply for PNP?

Go for master 2 years if you can afford it. That will give you a huge boost and a 3 years PGWP. You will then be able to gain more points after working for few years in Canada.

Not relevant, you must have a very good IELTS score to achieve 425 with only bachelor given the handicap of ages. May I know what is your IELTS score?

There are other provinces. This is the reason sometimes you need professional help.
Other province gone faster than speed of light. There will never the enough supply for the demand. Someone must be left out of the pack. He might just be that unlucky guy. I got the feeling that guy already looked into all of the possible ways cause he sounds knowledgeable on the matter.

Let me give you some background, EE program started in Year 2015. Check the CRS of year 2015 and 2016. It was never less than 460-470. Technically, during that period. However, during that period, various Indians immigrated to Canada only through PNP.

Today, its rather simple. One has to apply online. Trust and Patience is the key here. For your information, Nova Scotia will open in couple of months and Saskatchewan is opening soon. Think positively and apply.

You should quote the thread owner instead of me. I got PR way long before.

I'm just saying PNP open and close faster than lightning if you know what I mean. OINP master stream open and close in 1 minute after fulfilled all of their quota for the run. Same for NS and any other province. Unless you are sitting next to their server refresh the page non-stop using monitoring software, you are not gonna compete with the one who does. And I know guys who did just that (using software to monitor the site and get the queue number as soon as they open).

Sometime it is easy to judge people when you already passed the stage. Things changed and the competitiveness keep achieving the new high everyday.

You got the point that he can also look into other path while working on this path. But one thing you don't know is if the guy is actually saturated out of the other path due to some circumstance or not.

Assuming you have maxed out your IELTS SCORE, You could consider learning French and appearing for TEF Canada exam.
If you reach clb 7 across all competencies in TEF Canada, it should add the requisite points.

Thanks for the reply. I did not apply for PNP as from my research it seemed like there wasn't a PNP that I could apply for. My NOC job code is 0711 Construction Manager, which I did not see on the in demand occupations in the Provinces. Which PNP would you recommend that I look into?

Thanks for the response. The Masters for 2 years would be ideal, as you mention the PGWP for 3 years after will be great. However, I can't afford the cost of Masters for 2 years, not to mention being out of a job for 2 years at this age. Also, it's difficult to find a Masters program that is still accepting applications now for Fall 2018.

My IELTS score was 8.5.

Thanks for the response. I will look into this option. How long would you say that it would take for someone to learn French in order to pass this exam?

That's a mistake. I quoted you.

McMaster University Continuing Education offers may diplomas and certificates completely online. I am doing a diploma in accounting fully online which I start in July. I will be completed by next year September/October and will have points of 460 once completed. I already have a bachelor's degree.
