Hello all,

I am Portuguese, and I have applied for a full-time program at a college in Toronto. However, I have recently heard that there is a possibility that my study permit application might be refused if they find that my program of choice is not a match for my previous qualifications.

I have a BA in Languages and Cultures, and I have applied for a post-secondary/college diploma program in Tourism & Travel. My sole intention is to study in an English language environment, and in a place as culturally diverse as Toronto, and add stronger points to my previous education and experience. I would then return to my home country.

My questions are: would it truly be a problem if I have a BA and I am applying for another post-secondary program? Also, would it be viable to include a personal letter with my application, explaining my intentions?

I would truly appreciate if someone could enlighten me about this issue, before I proceed with sending in my study permit application.

Thank you!

Going for diploma after BA is not a good idea but if your diploma is a post graduate diploma then you are good.Write an SOP explaining your previous studies and JOB's and why you need the proposed course , and what good it will bring in your professional life, by this you might be able to convince the visa officer..........

Thank you so much for your reply.

If I understand correctly, a SOP is a statement of purpose, right? Is there a standard or recommended format I should take into account when writing one for a student permit application? I would really appreciate some guidance in that matter if it is possible. I did intend to include a written explanation of my intentions with my application, but I'm honestly unsure how to go about it.

Could anyone possibly point me towards an SOP sample or template? I could really use some guidance from someone who understands and/or has been through this before.

Write simply in your own words but do mention following points
:Your previous qualifications and experiences / Jobs
:Why u need ur proposed course, needed by your current job
:difference of education between Canada and ur home country
:How the proposed study will help u in your future job back in home country
