Study visa and work experience certificate

I am soon going to apply for my study visa for diploma in canada and I am graduated in year 2013 but I don't have any work certificate will there be problem while applying study visa?

Also is it mandatory to have work certificate do they call company and verify it for study visa ?

What did you do since you passed out? Family business, freelancing or some personal problems?

From where will you get a work certificate if you didn't for anyone? I think they will call your employer and verify with them.
