Study permit while applying for self-employed class?

Hi everyone,

Thanks to this website, I eventually submitted all the documents all on my own under the self-employed class a couple of months ago.

While waiting for a procedure, I am wondering if I could apply for study permit to make headway for my immigration project. In fact, I already found a couple of courses I want to study in Canada?

Do I have to wait and do nothing until the final result of SE-class is delivered to me?

Hi Prisca,

I advise that you patiently wait for your application to be approved. Applying for student visa contradicts your SE application as you are applying to immigrate as self-employed individual, capable of adding economic value to Canada and not a student.

I decided to do one by one.
I have remained as an applicant for the Federal Self-Employed category. I will proceed after I get the result. Currently, I am in the middle between ADR and MER. Wish me good luck!

don't mix and match. if you're applying to be a self employed person then don't also apply to be a student as they are two totally different classes of immigrant. one is fully self supporting the other is in full time education, they're totally different and applying as both says to an immigration officer that you're playing a game of "let's see which one comes first..." rather than committing to one over the other.

I totally agree with the above answers. However I understand your worries too.

I will suggest you wait. In the meantime you could start gathering documents and funds you will need to succeed if u apply for study permit or try another immigration pathway incase SE goes south.

I'll advise you to wait. In the interim, you may begin assembling the materials and resources you'll need to be successful if you apply for a study visa, or you could attempt another immigration route in case SE doesn't work out.
