Study Permit while already in Canada

I applied for a study permit in my home country and in the interim, I travelled to Canada to be with family using my multiple entry visitor visa. While I was here, I did my medical exam and sent my passport back to my country to have it stamped. I received my passport today from my VAC along with a letter of introduction that says to show it to the border officer.

I'm to understand that people normally use this TRV on the passport to travel to Canada and get their actual study permit at the border upon entering. But for my case, how can I get my actual study permit? Do I need to go into one of the IRCC offices nearby and show them my letter of introduction and passport that says I'm a student?

If anyone can answer, that'd be great. I really need my study permit as soon as possible to open a bank account and get my scholarship funds.

To get your study permit without leaving Canada, you must follow these steps once you have your letter of introduction:

1. Contact us using the IRCC Web form.

2. When asked, Is your application being processed by an office outside Canada?, answer “No”.

3. When you fill out the Your enquiry section, you must copy the text below to ensure that we prioritize your application.

A11EXAM: I am requesting an examination and the issuance of my study permit from within Canada. My application number is [S#########]. I have received my letter of introduction, which is valid until [date].

I continue to be accepted at [DLI Name] and will be/am registered in the [Name] Program.

4. Upload a copy of your letter of introduction with your request.

We’ll review your request and we’ll only contact you if we need more information. Once it’s approved, we’ll mail you your study permit.
