It means they are not convinced that you are a genuine student. Which school and program did you apply to? Also, which country did you apply from?
College:nbcc (New Brunswick community college).
Program : INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY -cyber security .
I'm applyed from India to Canada.

You can reapply again by changing some things mentioned in the refusal letter, or order GCMS notes, read the detail comments of the officer and then reapply, this increases the chances of approval

Hello,

My study permit was refused today stating the following reason.

  • I am not satisfied that you will leave Canada at the end of your stay, as stipulated in subsection 216(1) of the IRPR, based on your personal assets and financial status.

There was no other reason specified.

I am applying from United States and I had shown my fathers bank balance of 5 lakhs and an FD amount of 20 Lakhs INR from my mother. Apart from this I had already paid my first 2 semester fee of $27300 CAD and got a GIC of $10000 CAD for living expenses. I finished my masters in US and I am currently working in US. I also showed a personal bank statement of 11000 USD which I stated in the SOP that I will contribute towards my education. I had prepared a CA statement with all these financial status which summed upto $56,000 CAD.

Experts please guide me through the process.

Thank you in advance. Kindly help. Any help would be really appreciated.

Fixed assets dont count as funds but it seems like you had enough on your own since you already paid fees/gic and had some cash, unfortunately the gic notes advice is the best option otherwise you are just guessing.
It might be the way you presented the info, dont know what you mean by consolidated statement but the norm is showing bank statement of 6 month or so and if someone else is sponsoring you need the statements plus letter of support, but follow your country guidelines if different.

Thank you for your response. Without the fixed assets it would be $56000 CAD. I can email you the SOP if you can go through it. I am totally confused whether it is a large amount that I had shown or it happens to be a lower amount. Also another point that lingers in my mind is that I recently landed with a job and my own bank balances were very poor before that. After I started earning I started earning, I started to save more money, so 2 months bank transaction would be very low and the other 2 months would be high do you think this can also contribute ?

By consolidated statement I mean to say a Charted Accountant Certificate, validates all the documents and then gives a report on the financial status. Apart form this I also attached 4 months bank transaction as the cic website suggested me only 3 months of transaction and also the affidavit stating that my parents will support me.

There is no such thing as showing too much money.
The chartered accountant certificate isnt necessary and affidavit isnt necessary, you need your sponsors statements & letter from them explaining their support.

Recent inflow of money might be an issue but they should be able to tell from your work history that its normal.

But again since you already paid finances should not be an issue, dont send sop.

When you mean there is nothing like showing too much money do you mean that this could state that I do not have sufficient funds to support to my profile ?

I thought affidavit would stand good as a statement from the sponsors. It states that they will be taking care of all the expenses during my course of study.

I have given my fathers bank statements of $8800 CAD and also my months Fixed Deposits which is equivalent to $38000. They have mentioned in a legal document that they will be supporting my education with this money.

What course did you apply for? You should order gcms notes to find the actual reasons for rejection. From what it appears is you don't have enough ties to your home country and are probably not making a logical progression academically depending on your course selection.

Thank you for responding. I have an admit from UBC Okanagan campus for a Master's degree in Data Science. It is a 10 months programs. My course is starting on 1st of September so I think I am running out of time to get GCMS notes as it seems to take 30 days.

"As the reason states based on personal assets and financial status" will it get linked to my course selection ? my though was if it was course selection wouldn't the reason be mentioned as "natural progression in career".

Also In my consolidated financial statement I had mentioned a few other properties that my parents own in my country will that prove to be a potential immigrant ? Does this reason anyway suggest that I have insufficient funds to my education ? or will it mean that I have too much of funds because which the VO thinks that I may settle in Canada in the future ?

The net sources available mentioned in my Financial Statement was $700,000 CAD which included all the bank accounts, Fixed Deposits(Investments) and the assets(Properties). The university fee was around $44000 CAD(tuition) + $12000 CAD for living.

What do you suggest to improve my profile ? Thanks in advance.

I’m confused there is a big difference between $8800 liquid and 38K in fixed deposits versus your other statements. $8800 in liquid is not enough. Did you include your own liquid savings account? I also noticed that you are coming from the US after pursuing another masters degree which I would have thought would have been an issue.
