Study Permit under Non SPP for a 4 month course duration

Hi,

I have received a Letter of acceptance from Bonnie Gordon College of Confectionery Art, Toronto, Canada for a Diploma in Confectionery Art, Sept 2014 intake. The course duration is for 4 months. This college has a DLI number and is a registered college on the CIC website. As per the eligibility criteria for a study permit, the course duration should be of 6 months or greater, however a study can be issues for a course of less than 4 months if I show that I intend to pursue further studies post this course. What are the chances of success if I apply for a study permit. Also I have just completed my MBA in marketing in MAY 2014. The reason I want to pursue this course is because I want a professional degree in Pastry Art to set up my own business in India. My financial standing is strong as well. Will I get a study permit in this case? Can anyone advise me on this pls.

You can pursue a course less than 6 months under a visit visa......

I would apply for a visit visa and use that to get this course (once you finish and want to get further education you can apply for SP). Given your educational background, I think you will have serious issues convincing the VO that you are a genuine student at a 4 months pastry course!

4 months Pastry Art course with MBA degree in hand, yours slim to none chances.

I have a portfolio of my work and have been in the pastry business for the past 5 years. I have my own home business and I am doing this course to upgrade my skills as I don't have any formal education in confectionery art. Isn't this convincing enough? The institute that I am applying to one of the best and my main goal is to set up my own business in my home country. Besides my parents are also entrepreneurs here and we have our own business.

Looks like you are a good businessman, how will you prove to CIC you are a good student? To get SP, you must be a good student.
