Hi all,

Currently, I am a full-time student at one of the Atlantic province. My program is course-based so it is not necessary to take courses for summer. Therefore, I have got a summer student position in a well-known company for the summer (4 months). The job is under NOC.

  • If I will get a job offer from this company after finishing the summer, can I apply for the work permit?
  • Do they call it open work permit?
  • How long does it take?
  • If I get a 1-year job offer, can I apply for PNP or Atlantic Program or Express Entry?
  • What will happen if I will get a 1-year job offer but I work only 9 months? Does it affect the profile that I applied for PR?
  • Can I change my program to part-time at university and continue my education during the work?

A job offer doesn't grant you a work permit, you would need the employer to apply for and get a LMIA for you, these are not easy to get. If they were to do that you could apply for a closed work permit.
