Hi folks,
Our family has applied for a study permit plus an open work permit for my spouse, all together. We also have a small child who doesn’t need a permit.
We applied late June, biometrics submitted in early July. They haven’t started reviewing our eligibility, and we haven’t received the approval in principle either. It says they are processing our background check.
We have a letter from the university that explains that there will be required in person clinical work for the study permit holder.

-should we upload the letter? Will it make an difference/expedite the process?
-how will the SOWP be processed? The work permit processing times seem to be shorter than the study permit processing times but I’m not sure this is true for OWP
-do they always approve them together?

This is all such a mess..

- I would go ahead and upload the letter. Don't think this will necessarily expedite anything but there is no harm in providing this additional information.
- The SOWP may be approved together with the study permit or it may not be. Depending on your country of origin, it may be difficult for your spouse to travel to Canada on a SOWP without securing a job offer in Canada first. (This is due to COVID-19 travel restrictions.)
- No. Not always.

I have a similar application.

My wife has applied for a study permit with masters

Our son and I will accompany her. I applied for Open Work Permit for myself

GIC $19,000

Showed savings $25,000 readily available for next year

I am already working remotely with a Canadian company and they provided me a letter with gross salary confirmation and intend to carry on the contract regardless of region. Provided proof of invoices and payments in the client information section.

Any thoughts on this, please.
