Dear All,

I want to change my college from UBC to Royal roads university or Canada west university. Can any one tell me how to get study permit renewal and what are the chances? Are their chance of getting refusal as well?

Would strongly suggest staying at UBC. Your opportunities after graduation will be significantly better. Would really discourage Canada university west which is a private university.

I only answer questions on this forum and also not a bro. When did you start your UBC course and are you currently studying? Have you had to withdraw is that why you aren't finishing the last semester? Depending whether you have been studying this summer (if it wasn't a scheduled break) your study permit may have been cancelled. If you have been studying full-time except scheduled breaks you need to extend your study permit. It is very late to get admission and get a study permit extended at this point.

Sorry to break the decorum....My course at UBC is a one year course I started in jan 2018 and the course will end by dec 2018. I have not failed any subject But i got bad grades...that is the reason I Think I might not be able to survive the last term.. I will withdraw by the end of july or begning of august and yes I wont be finishing the last term. I was studying this summer their was no break the studies . the breaks wer like for 10 days in between , those breaks were between winter term and summer term.

If the course starts in September you are expected to start in September. Some programs may still admit you if you miss the first week. Since you student visa probably ends in January 2019 you actually don't need to extend you study visa yet. You should gain admission and start new school and notify CIC. Then apply to extend you study permit. Would strongly encourage you to avoid all private school. Go to a. public university or college.

It is always up to CIC whether they grant you an extension. Try to do much better in your next course and make sure your selection of new courses makes sense based on your previous work and school and will advance your skills.

Many private schools don't qualify for PGWP and even if they do the quality of education is often very poor. Employers will not value the degree and they often charge a lot of money. They are for profit businesses unlike public colleges. I would personally avoid this school. Why would they have spaces when other colleges and universities are full and have waiting lists?

Not a sir first of all. If you plan on pursuing an MBA you should be able to do some of these searches by yourself. Yes it currently qualifies. If your goal is to work in Canadian companies the degree is not really recognized by most of them. I would try and extend your study permit now because if you get refused in January you will have lost a lot of money paying the Canada west tuition.

My study permit expires in march 2019. I asked few my friends they said study permit gets extended till the time u are enrolled in studies. I was just worried that what are the chances of rejection. My friends said that it is easy to extend but still I am worried because I have never been to such situation. Anyways thanks for your kind support

Yes typically study permit get extended if students are doing well in their courses and there are no large breaks. Can't imagine Canada West gives anyone bad marks so you should be ok if they overlook your grades at UBC. I know you are using your studies for immigration purposes but want to reinforce that this MBA will not lead to job opportunities like an MBA at other universities like UBC. I am actually puzzled as to why it does qualify for PGWP.
