Hi:
I would be so grateful if any of you would give me some suggestions on this:
My study permit application has been rejected, they did not give me any specific reason, but ticked this box:
have (not) submitted written documentation from the educational institution at which you intend to study
that states that you have been accepted to study there
The problem is that I definitely have uploaded my letter of acceptance on the system.
Now I can only think of two reasons I am rejected on this:
1. The acceptance letter I uploaded was the electronic version the university sent me, it is a PDF file instead of the paper version they sent me later. The visa officer might want the version the university sent me by mail only?
2. I got accepted in the British Columbia University as an unclassified student, which means I will be doing undergraduate courses but not towards a degree, only for credits. It is like a visiting student, the study period is between September to April next year. I am not sure if the nature of this study concerns the visa officer, so I wrote a letter of explanation and gave them full details of my intention and motivation of doing so: I am 22 and have finished undergraduate study in the university of manchester (UK), however my GPA was a bit less than 3.0 (shame), I would like to do some credit courses at a different university to upgrade for postgraduate studies (with current GPA my choice is very limited) Choosing UBC was because 1) it's a very good uni 2)my bf is studying in Canada as well.
=======================================================================
If It is reason 1 that I am rejected, it should be no problem if I re-apply and use the paper version of the school letter.
But if it's 2, things would be a lot harder and I am not sure what to do.
I also noticed this information on the official website :
There are activities that do not require a study permit. Generally, a study permit is not required for:
following audit courses (where a student is permitted to attend an academic course without obtaining credits);
I am studying for credits though, just not for a degree. I am not sure I fall into this category. If I do, should I apply for a visitor visa instead? because if it "does not require a study permit" I assume it requires a visitor visa which allows you to study there.
However, visitor visa only allow you to stay there for 6 month Max, while my study length is around 8 months.
I am so confused and seriously need help. If you have any ideas on this, please let me know, many thanks!
