Hey everyone, this is Grisott, i am 20 yrs old and italian.. i applied twice for a study permit in Canada but i have been rejected both of the times.
I understood the first time, i did not show i had enough financial support, so in the second application i put the document that showed my parents own 2 houses and more financial support (i specified they would have paid for my tuition) so in the second letter the financial problem was not there anymore, but INSTEAD now the reason i was rejected was 'you have not convinced an officer you will leave canada at the end of your authorized period of stay because you do not have sufficient ties to your country of origin' what does that mean? being 20 i cant own a house and i cannot be married... anyone knows what i could do?
thank ya all!
cheers

Well, you could come up with some other aspects of your life in Italy, like you have most of your family members are in Italy. You don't have relative in Ca. You are affiliated with some social/educational type organizations. Your guardians are wealthy enough in your country and therefore you don't really have any immigrant intent etc.

the study is interior design. it's about $6000 for 2 years.
so i basically need to write a letter saying that the only reason i want to go is to study and that i have all my relatives in itlay? i obvioulsy dont own a house or im not married because im 20 so i cant understand how to prove i have ties in my country or origin except for my parents..

Hey Grisott,

From what I understand, in general, visa officers are rather lenient on giving visas to Schengen citizens as they can otherwise travel to Canada without TRV for holidays so they aren't preventing any of them from overstaying by refusing study permits at the embassies. Could you tell us which documents exactly you submitted? Did you write a "Study plan" as well? They want to know that you have a rough idea about what you're going to do after your studies. Mention opportunities that you have in Italy and perhaps other Schengen countries upon completion of your studies in Canada, talk about them as a very good reason you will leave Canada. The only thing that comes to my mind as for why your visas have rejected is that you did not fill in your application properly and/or include all the necessary documents to make it satisfactory. Also sounds like your visa officer is a hard ass :) Good luck!

hello..looking for some advice
i am a pr for few years. my sister is here as my live in caregiver to my kids.. she is eligible for pr application this june. she has two sons , one who is here as a student...her second son applied for a study permit in 2010 but was denied as was told he did not prove to them that he has enough ties to return to south africa.
we r wondering if it is worthwhile attempting a second application or just do it under his mum's application.. problem is long wait period for pr for live in caregiver.

thanks to everybody who replied to my post. trying to do it with a lawyer now because i requested the foss files and so i have the two officers notes. their reasons? why would she like to spend the double she would spend in tuition if she was in italy? where her money come from? at the beginning they tell you they only care you have founds so i showed them money that my parents had invested because they don't keep their salary just to lie there in a bank account, but appartently at the embassy they ALSO want to know where the money come from. unbelievable..

but again, thanks to everybody! in the new application i will write a letter explaining i will go back after my grad and stuff.

take care!
