Today I got a letter of refusal for my study permit with this reason :

I am not satisfied that you will leave Canada at the end of your stay, as stipulated in subsection 216(1) of the IRPR, based on your immigration status.

I applied for my CAIPS notes, but can someone shed light on what "immigration status" means?

It seems that you are applying from a country other than your country of citizenship. When this is the case the ties to your home country appear weak and thus a reason for refusal.

Anything I should do to strengthen my case? I can show property my parents own in my country of citizenship. What else?

The strength of your application lies in your own personal ties economic or otherwise. Try to highlight your social ties to your home country like dependence of your parents or your future plans to utilise the skills and knowledge gained in Canada in your home country. The whole exercise is to allay the VO's fear that you may not leave Canada after your studies.

Better wait for the notes. Nobody can figure out their logic. Such rejection reasons are nonsense because there are no ground to conclude that based on your documentation. And everyone knows that most Indians will not leave after their study...
