Study Permit Not Processed In Time Before Semester Starts

Hi,

I am an Australian student who is meant to study abroad in Canada for a year.

I know that it takes approximately 8 weeks to process a Study Permit coming from Sydney, Australia. However, one of my documents I uploaded was accidentally incorrect and the immigration officer has now refused my entire application. If I start a new one, I will not be able to have my permit approved on time because semester start is LESS than 8 weeks away.

Does anyone know a way I can urgently get my study permit reviewed?

I was thinking I might ask my university that I am applying to in Canada to amend the letter they sent me to instead say I will study for only 1 semester (6 months) instead of 2 semesters (12 months). This way, I won't even need a visa as I believe if I study for less than 6 months, I don't need one?

Anyway, if someone has any advice, it will be great!!

An Australian isn't quite supposed to do the medicals. Just go ahead and file in your application, it won't take that long.

This will only work if you plan on studying six months in Canada and then returning to Australia. If you actually plan on continuing your studies after the initial six months, then the studying you will be doing the first six months without a study permit will be illegal and you'll run into issues trying to remain in Canada longer. The total duration of your program or course of study (i.e. degree, diploma) must be six months or less if you want to study without a study permit.

Guys, thanks for your input, but we must keep in mind that the medicals need to be done if the applicant has spent over 6 months in a designated country, so it has nothing to do with one's national origin. Australia is exempt from this list, however, the applicant MIGHT HAVE lived in a country other than Australia for the above mentioned period during the last year and thus has to be examined, that's why I'm asking. The visa processing has seen a drastic overhaul this year, so I was able to secure a SP way faster than the average processing times defined by my local CIC VO. So go for it, and God speed.

Hi Everyone,

Thank you for your input.

Firstly, I'm born and bred in Australia and have lived here my whole life.

It seems my chances of studying abroad for a year have diminished as class starts on Sep 4 and the normal processing time is 8 weeks for a study permit to be processed coming from Sydney, Australia.

Thank you again for your help and any other information or advice is still much appreciated.

Regards,

Royce
