Hi, I have a bit complicated situation.

I have landed in Toronto on 19th April to study an year long course in a college in Ottawa. At the time of landing I have had almost 6 months and 5 days for my medical to expire. I had my medical on 24th October 2020. And as they say that the medical is valid for 12 months. But at the port of entry the visa officer told me that the medical is not updated on his portal. So he has granted me a study permit for 6 months only. Also there is a condition on my study permit that I have to undergo a medical exam in 30 days and then I can apply for study permit extension. Also I can not work for these 6 months.
I have already booked a date for medical exam immediately after my quarantine.
I have few questions ;

1. My recent study permit ends in October. But my course finishes in December. If I apply for extension of study permit immediately, is it possible to change the condition of no employment on my study permit?

2. I want to take another study program of one year after finishing existing course in December. Should I wait and get another LOA and apply for the extension of study permit, which will work for my both study programs?

Your reply would be highly appreciated !!

To answer your first question: https://www.canada.ca/en/immigration-refugees-citizenship/services/study-canada/work/work-off-campus.html

If your study permit doesn’t have work conditions on it
You can ask to have these conditions added if you’re eligible to work off campus. There’s no fee to add these conditions to your permit.”

When you renew your SP and it does not have the condition to work, you can request to have it added.

Was medical updated on your GC key? Moreover, haven't you showed him a document proving that you already went through medical.

Yes, the medical is updated on my GC key. All my documents, like counterfoil are also valid.
In GC key my Review of Medical Status says 'You have passed the medical on 15th February'. Does it mean that medical is updated? Or do they mention it in other words?
I tried to show him my GC key account. But he was reluctant to see, as it is not allowed to use the cell phone in the immigration.
By the way, the officer was quite lenient towards me. He never raised the voice. He was only trying to help me. He said that only if you can push that magic button and get it updated in my portal, I would gladly grant you full study permit. :) He only told me to get the medical done immediately and then go for extension of study permit.
I think it might be a plain miscommunication between IRCC and border services. It might be due to the pandemic situation, all their systems are overwhelmed.
Thank you Sarab1402 for your reply.

You only extend your permit 30 days out. I don't think they will process an extension 6 months out.
Thank you Naturgrl. I didn't get this. Do you mean I should apply for the extension only 30 days before my current SP expires? Currently the processing time for the extension of SP itself is 57 days.

1. Extension

https://www.canada.ca/en/immigration-refugees-citizenship/services/study-canada/extend-study-permit.html

See the link. It states that you apply within 30 days but I don’t think they will consider an extension application 6 months out. Usually you apply 2 months out.

2. Change conditions of your permit. You can apply for an amendment to your study permit if you are in Canada now.

3. Also if you are starting a new program, are you changing schools? You may need a new study permit and not an extension. Your permit will only be issued to complete the first program.

I am not changing school for the new program. So, what would it be, a new one or extension?
