Hello,

I am a citizen of India, Bangalore and I am currently working in the United Arab Emirates. I will join Masters Course in Canada.
I have received an admit to a university in Halifax, Canada which I have to begin from September 4th.

As a result, Student Visa is required. The processing of the visa will take different days based on where I apply from (UAE or India)

Currently I am awaiting cancellation of visa and booking of ticket to return to India, after which I have to spend 14 days in quarantine, as per government rules.

However, flights to India are closed.

Furthermore, there is no direct flight from Bangalore to Halifax, Canada. There is only a flight to Halifax with 2 stops - one of which is in Toronto. I would have to spend 14 days in each of these places in quarantine.

Due to the lack of time I have between now and the beginning of my course, I have a very tight schedule at hand. I would like some help from anyone to guide me to the fastest and best way to obtain my student visa and appear to course on time. It will be very much appreciated.

1)

The Canada website says that the visitor visa will be provided along with the study permit. If I apply for a study permit from India through the student direct stream which has a processing time of 20 days. Does this mean that I will get both the study permit and visitors visa within 20 days.

2)

Is it possible to provide Biometrics in the UAE and use that for student direct stream in India?

Please let me know if anyone has any suggestions.

1) SDS/Non-SDS processing times are no longer accurate due to the current situation, Visitor Visa will be issued here, Study Permit will be issued in Canada on Arrival

2)Biometrics can be provided from UAE. Not sure about SDS though. I am not entirely sure about this.
