Hello,
I have received the IRCC letter that authorised me to start my studies online without a full study permit (according to the new two steps approval process after Covid).
I had to apply as I was outside of Canada as I currently have visitor status.
The DLI I attend is saying that the letter only allows me to follow the classes if I am outside of the country. Therefore I would have to leave Canada only to attend online classes, or drop the courses and lose part of the tuitions.
IRCC website doesn't mention anything about this case, as it's an exception. The letter does not mention that I can't be here while attending the online classes.

Is there anybody in the same situation and how can the DLI interpret this situation?

Thank you.

You need Study Permit to study in Canada. AIP is only for the people who are abroad and can't travel to Canada with fully approved Study Permit due to pandemic. If you are in Canada, you can't study on the basis of AIP.

There will be no issue. May I know, your DLI? One friend of mine is in similar condition and he is studying in a DLI without any issue.
Moreover, your application has been submitted outside of Canada. So it does not matter where are you in person.
This what I found on the internet. Hope it will assist.

A notification you receive after passing the 1st stage of the study permit approval process. The document should indicate that your application is approved-in-principle. This only applies to students whose application was submitted outside of Canada.

You do not need a full study permit to attend online classes. The time you spend studying online while awaiting your AIP will count for your PGWP requirements, doesn't matter what part of the world you're studying online from.

You can stay in Canada and attend online classes for as long as your visitor status is valid. The employee of your DLI who is saying otherwise is wrong.
