Study Permit - How long before official beginning of class can I enter Canada?

I'm hoping to go study a Masters at the University of Toronto this fall. I'm from the UK and have all the information I need about applying for the necessary study permit. My only question is - how long before the official start of the term am I permitted to enter Canada? I know that study permits for Canadians coming to the UK give you around a month before you have to start class, so I wondered if it would be the same for me going to Canada. I couldn't find anything on the cic website, hence asking here!

The only reason I want to go early is so that I have plenty of time to settle down and maybe do a few touristy things!

I came month before my classes no problem at all
