Study Permit from U.K. 8 months and waiting

I have been waiting since Feb 1st for an outcome on my study permit. I can not believe I am still waiting. Has anybody else ever waited this amount of time?

I renounced my PR 3 years ago to visit Canada on holiday.
I am 30. Yeah I grew up there.
I know I have lots going against me to complicate things but I still don't know what could take so long.
