STUDY PERMIT for 4 years;Masters course for 2 years!!

I would like this information from the senior members and people already moved to Canada.

My master's course is max fr 4 years but ideally it can be completed in 1.5-2 yrs!! As i have good 4 years in hand, if one wishes to extend the masters into an integrated PhD, how does the condition for student permit change? Since, my SP has been issued keeping the Msc course in mind, I would be required to inform the CIC about my plan to pursue an advanced reasearch in the offered 4 years permit right? I require this information as my professor has plans of offering me a PhD later.

Apply for SP extension, within 90 days of receiving passing transcripts (not degree) of first course, fill up IMM 5709 (Application to Change Conditions, Extend my Stay or Remain in Canada as a Student).

Hey thanks a ton! May I know why transcripts and not degree certificates? Is it because 1. Transcripts are the required documents and 2. Getting degree certificate takes longer and will not be conferred within 90 days of completion of masters ?
