Study Permit Extension WITH Co-op Work Permit

Hey guys,

So I've had my study permit for a while and I recently changed my major and added co-op work program.
My first work term is MAY - AUG 2016, and I just applied for co-op work permit. But the processing time is 140 days, ridiculous.

My current study permit is expiring on AUG 31 2016, so the coop work permit i will be issued will be valid until aug 31 2016 most likely.

I understand that i need to extend my study permit along with coop work permit, to continue studying and be able to work in the future work terms (next year).

SO,
1. Is it advisable that I apply for study permit extension + coop work permit now? providing that I already have a application for coop work permit with my CURRENT study permit which expires in august. I will kind of have duplicate application for coop.

2. WOULD THE PROCESSING TIME BE FASTER if the coop work permit is applied along with/under the study permit extension? I.E., does the processing time of coop work permit goes with processing time of study permit if its in one application? WHICH in my case will be faster.


Note that my priority right now is to get coop work permit for this may.

Please share how long it took for you guys to get your coop work permit / study permit + coop work permit / study permit extension + coop work permit.

Do not double apply ,that may increase the time .

I have applied for extension of study /work permit and it took them 13 days for them to approve .Just make sure you give every possible documents.

Could you tell me when you applied?
The processing time for coop work permit has sky rocketed recently , I'm trying to figure out if applying them together decrease the time perhaps by falling under study permit proceeding time constraint.

Also I figured in too early in advance to apply for study permit extension..

I applied on Jan 11,2016 ,Got it approved by Jan 26,2016 and the sealed co-op/study permit arrived by 7 th of Feb,2016

Yes, when you apply for a study permit extension, CIC gives you an option to apply for a co-op work permit as well. You can't start your co-op without the co-op wp.

I attend in a coop program which was stopped in the middle due to COVID 19 pandemic, I finished my study but my Practicum (Coop work permit) was postponed, could you please tell me if it is possible to extend my Study permit with another college and also extend my current Coop work permit at the same time
It is a bit strange and I am confused.

Since your coop isn't completed, technically you aren't done with school. You would need to ask your school/program coordinator to give you an updated letter of enrolment till the end of your coop. Use that letter to apply for a study permit along with a letter of explanation about why COVID19 affected your coop.
