I think you are out of status in Canada now, I believe the first thing will be to restore your status, either to student or visitor. Secondly, your studies are now finished. I am not sure why it took soo long for them to complete the process. I don't think you can apply for PGWP without a status in the Canada. If you can't apply to restore your status then the only option to go back to home country ASAP and apply for PGWP from there. @captainarabiia or @tapperb can answer on this more accurately.

Hi there, I need help. I'm in a complicated situation.
I applied for my study permit extension in July 2019 and my file went to the local office on September 3rd 2019. However, I completed my studies on 21st august 2020 and on 8th September 2020, I got a message that my study permit extension got refused. what should I do? I wanted to apply for my PGWP. Do I need to leave the country?

@scylla and others please help, my friend just got his study permit refused with no reason given. His permit will expire on nov 17, while the officer noted that his status is valid until his permit expires it also stated that his current permit will expire October 30 2020 which was the date a decision was made on his application.

All advise and suggestions honestly appreciated

We need more information about your friend like how long they have been studying, were they always full-time, did they take any breaks, etc.?

Studied for a year at Humber and extended his application towards the end of his program back in July to Nov 17, he then gained another two years program admission to another college in IT ( studied film in Humber).
Applied for extension in September with the new admission letter and enrolment letter in his new school and got refused yesterday with the letter stating that his permit expires on October 30 and he actually have till Nov 17 on his current permit.

The officer also advised that he graduated on July 20 2020 but he actually graduated on 30th August at Humber

@canuck78 he is currently out of country, travelled two weeks ago and he’s planning to come back on the 10th, will he be allowed to enter based on his letter of refusal that stated his current permit expires on 30 October (date decision was made)

When extending your study permit, do you need to go to the same trouble of demonstrating that your sponsor can provide for you in Canada (10k + tuition) as the one you've gone through in your initial study permit application or do you just need to show a bank statement showing sufficient funds, regardless of the source?

I couldn’t complete the course in January 2019
Got enrolled into different course in may 2019 couldn’t complete that too
sept 2019 got enrolled but couldn’t complete that due to low gpa
January 2020 started with this private college and it the letter it stated as 25th sept 2020 as course completion study permit rejected on 1st sept but exams were over in august 2020 got the graduation letter,25th sept the college told me it was the graduation day

in all of this I was on valid study permit and had applied for restoration in sept got back home in February 2021

Hello, Did you gwt your study permit approved. I am in a kind of same situation. I also switched DLI's and Programs. I completed 12th in Humanities came here with General Studies but, Changed to Tourism. Currently Out of Canada, Studying Online and Study permit extension was refused
