Hi All,

Hi, I am a Master's student studying in UWaterloo and I am currently taking an internship in U.S.

My plan is to graduate in April 2016. And I am going to have my convocation in Spring 2016. But my current study permit is due 12/31/2015. So I need to extend it.

I have consulted the advisers and others stuff in the University. And I have sent my STUDY PERMIT EXTENSION application along with every necessary document on Apr 11th.

However, I got this message today saying:

This refers to your application for a study permit received 04/11/2015. No action is being taken to process your request for the following reasons: Our records indicate that you have already been issued a document by a Canada Immigration Centre valid to 2015/12/31. As processing has already started on your application, the processing fees paid for this application will not be refunded. NOTE: Passports must be valid for the duration of your stay in Canada. Documents will not be issued beyond the validity of passports.

Have no idea what to do now. :( :( I cannot call CIC because the number can only be called in Canada.

And what would be the reason for this one? Did CIC misunderstood my application? Or Did I apply for it way too early?

Help please! :-X

Yes, you applyed too early.

I would suggest you to check the validity of your passport.

If your passport is going to expire soon, that also can be a reason for your refusal (NOTE: Passports must be valid for the duration of your stay in Canada. Documents will not be issued beyond the validity of passports.)

I have always been on the safe side and extended my study permits 6months before the actual expiry date and have also got them approved, so I don't think sending the document early is the actual reason for refusal

And you thought you will get extension 6 months before the expiry of current permit. Great!

Apply at the most 3 months in advance.
