Study permit extension after work permit

Hi guys,

I got admitted to a program with Co-op, the course is from May to December 2018 and 16 weeks work. I want to do another course after I finish this one so will be extending my study permit before it expires but i am confused about how Visa officer will give me the permit, if they give study permit upto december and work permit for 16 weeks will i be able to extend my study permit during my work permit or i have to apply new study permit?
Please let me know about this.

if the work is part of the course then there will be an extension (or internship) after that you can apply for study permit extension for the next program.
